Daily Creativity: Deadpool & Rory – Deadrawr & Rawrpool!

Rory & Deadpool - Deadrawr & Rawrpool!Rory & Deadpool – Deadrawr & Rawrpool!

Tonight I saw Deadpool, but I started this before I even went to the movie. This movie was one of the most anticipated movies I’ve been to in a long time, and it paid off. I give the film 10/10, but don’t worry, I won’t spoil it. Instead I give you Rory dressed as Deadpool, and Deadpool dressed as Rory. They are almost Super Bros, but more like Rawr Bros.

4×6″ Watercolor and ink.

Seriously though, if you’re over 18, go see this movie. Do not bring your kids, kids should not see this movie, and it’s not because of the sex (there’s a lot) or the nudity (oh yeah) but because of the violence and gore and irresponsible gun and swordplay. Though for grownups, all of those things make it a great movie.

Daily Creativity: Nightcrawler

Rory as X-Men's Nightcrawler, Rorycrawler
When watching Xmen first class the other day got Tek and I talking about Rory moving about the house like Nightcrawler, one moment he’s next to you, the next, next to the cookie jar, then next to you again chomping on cookies. So I drew Rory AS Night crawler :)

I used my new pastel pencils, I like how they work.

Daily Creativity: Rory from District RAWR!

I drew this yesterday for Daily Creativity, I only uploaded it now because I drew it after we came back from the movies. We saw the Hunger Games at the theatre here on base. I had seen it once before and Tek had not seen it nor had he read the book. Seeing the movie the second time made me see a lot of the flaws of the film, but I still loved it. I cried, but not nearly as much as I did the first time. Tek really liked the film and though we dissected all the physics flaws he still liked it a lot and rated it high.

I was inspired to draw Rory from District RAWR simply because I was still thinking of the hunger games when I put pencil to paper. I gave him a mighty tum to show, that he is a victor and not hungry at all, my dragon is never left hungry :)

Daily Creativity: Dread Pirate Rory!

Dread Pirate Rory
“then one day he said to me, ‘I am not the dread pirate Rory'”

Continuing with the theme of mashing Rory the Dragon up with famous figures we have Rory as the Dread Pirate Roberts… though this is a mask he has been donning since his infancy.

This was done with india ink/quill on cardstock. I’m happy to go back to my roots and to pick up the quill again. The precision of the quill amazes me, it’s been so long since I have dipped my quill my reserve was dried out. I of course have a huge bottle of india ink as a back up to refill.

I suggest you click on the image to expand to see all of the cross hatching I did, I think it came out really nice.  There is something about using the traditional tools that you will never get with the digital variations.  A lot of people do this style of drawing now with a stylus and a tablet, and it’s something that I strive to master myself, but it will never fully replace ink, paints, pencil and all of the other materials.
