Daily Creativity: Worthy

Daily Creativity: Worthy

Daily Creativity - WorthyThis piece was inspired by someone’s tattoo. I love the idea of tattooing something like worthy on yourself. Each of us are worthy and in today’s world sometimes it takes remembering that to be able to survive. The world is negative and surrounded with ads on how to fix flaws these same ad companies have made up, just to sell your their product. If we could each remember our worth I think the world would be a better place.

Originally I was going to paint a tea cup using tea as my medium, it was a stunning failure. The tea aged the paper but I couldn’t build up any layers so it was pretty sad. Perhaps I can get it to work with coffee someday, who knows.

Daily Creativity: BB-8

Daily Creativity: BB-8

BB-8 Daily Creativity, the Droid we're looking for. Before seeing The Force Awakens, I expected to not care at all about the orange ball droid that seemed to be overhyped and dubbed BB-8. I was wrong, dead wrong. This was a great character, not over done, but lots of fun. Able to emote without a voice or face, fantastic. Tonight, I drew her, simply out of love for her, the droid I didn’t know I was looking for. Ink drawing on paper.

Rory as Spiderman - SpiderRAWR - Daily CreativitySpiderRAWR, SpiderRAWR Does whatever a spider can
Spins a web any size Catches sheep just like flies
Look out, here comes the SpiderRAWR!

SpiderRAWR, SpiderRAWR Friendly neighborhood, Spiderdragon
Wealth and fame, he ignores a full tum is his reward
To him, life’s a great big bang up Whenever there’s a hang up
You’ll find the Spiderdragon!

Another in a series of Rory as comic book characters, this character was requested last year by Tim. I finally figured out the best way to draw this. You can see the black and white ink version before I added the color below. I like both versions, I’m starting to really like the basic black and white drawings I’m doing in ink, still, I think a comic book character needs colors, at least four colors ;) Ink and Watercolor on paper.

Daily Creativity: A Robot Crush

A Robot Crush - Daily Creativity - NIMLAS StudiosA Robot Crush

Who doesn’t love robots? I got the idea to draw the idea of a Robot crush, one robot crushing on another. Not sure where that aspect came from, but I wanted to draw robots all day since listening to an episode of Sue Watches Buffy, where they cover the episode Ted, and Em explains how she always tells her daughter to robots and how much she loves them. Since that I have had robots on the brain all day.

Daily Creativity: Deadwood Cast

Deadwood Cast - Daily CreativityDaily Creativity: Deadwood Cast

I love Deadwood, the HBO series, and yet I avoided watching it for years. I know so many people who love it but it just didn’t seem like my kind of show. I’m not really into westerns, and that’s what it looked like. This show is so not a western. I started watching it mainly because my friends started an introcast about it called Hooplecast (go listen to that, it’s a lot of fun, and loooooong episodes). I was still hesitant to watch it, since it wasn’t on netflix, but another friend had said he’s be a newbie listening along and sending in feedback. Then that friend passed away, and I felt a nice way to honor him was to take up that pledge myself.  I’m so happy I did. This show is fun. Why didn’t anyone tell me it was swearing in iambic pentameter? My favorite characters aren’t what most people’s favorite characters are. Jane is my number one favorite, followed by Elsworth and the Doc.

I figured if I was going to draw some of the cast I had to have Al and Seth, it’s a given. I couldn’t draw the main cast that’s on the DVDs though, no Jane!  Jane had to be in there, she’s just too great. I have grown to love Al’s character, but I don’t love Al. I like how awful he is and how complex he is. I feel like I should have drawn some dirt on Jane’s face, but was afraid it might make it hard to see her. After drawing Doc I got the feeling that his hair is really fluffy. I get weird thoughts when I draw.
