Daily Creativity: Rory Celebrates Holi

Daily Creativity: Rory Celebrates Holi

Daily Creativity: Rory Celebrates HoliHoli has been one of my favorite things to honor in my Daily Creativity project. I wrote more about the Holi Festival perviously and why I love it so much. I’m not Hindi but it inspires me. This year I decided that Rory would celebrate. I did this using watercolor and ink on a watercolor block. I actually finished this earlier today but I couldn’t get it to the scanner. I will not be home tomorrow night, I’m staying over at a dojo, so I expect I will have to post my creativity on social media and scan it and post it later. I have two that I still need to post from two weekends ago when I was at my in laws. I scanned them, they just aren’t on this site yet. I’ll get to it.

Daily Creativity: You Are Enough

Daily Creativity: You Are Enough

Daily Creativity: You Are EnoughYou are enough. “You alone are enough. You don’t have to prove anything to anyone.” -Maya Angelou. This might be a bit of a phone in, but writing out this quote is what I have today. I have been writing and lettering for the last two months and it is a very calming thing. Today I felt a bit swamped and I can tell I’m getting sick, so my creative juices are a bit dry I guess. This is really what I have. Hopefully tomorrow will be more inspiring. This was written with a FPR Eyedropper Flex pen filled with Diamine Purple Pizzazz ink. It’s hard to see in the scan, but there are gold sparkles on the ink.

Daily Creativity: Trash Panda

Daily Creativity: Trash Panda

Daily Creativity: Trash PandaTrash Panda is a tumblr name for a raccoon, but I decided to take the term literally tonight. This is a fountain pen painting. I drew it with a fountain pen and then used water mixed with the ink to create a watercolor, since the ink is water soluble. I really enjoy how these come out, and it gives me a reason to use ink that isn’t waterproof. If you don’t know by now, I have let myself fall headfirst into fountain pens again. I could talk your ear off about them. I write with them, draw with them, I tinker and change their nibs or make frankenpens, and play with ink. So expect some more pieces like this in the future.

Daily Creativity: Typewriter Swirls

Daily Creativity: Typewriter Swirls

Daily Creativity: Typewriter SwirlsI drew this typewriter with my recently hacked frankenpen fountain pen. It’s a Zebra comic G nib in a fountain pen. This isn’t something you would want to do to a nice fountain pen, but considering I paid $6 for the pen, and it wasn’t my favorite, it was ok trashing the pen for this. Doing this will ruin your fountain pen, and if you don’t take care the nib could rust in the feed and trash the feed. I knew the risks.

I missed drawing with a quill, and this solved that. I wanted to experiment with some line art. I just did the outline of the typewriter so that it would blend well with the swirling lines surrounding it.

Daily Creativity: Pondy Bear #PondyStrong

#PondyStrongI drew this #PondyStrong bear earlier today, had it scanned in and saved by 5pm, and for some reason I thought I had already posted it. I didn’t. So here I am at 3am posting this lil guy. My friend is going for his second round of chemo this week. A bunch of his friends and supporters are sporting art he has created and taking pictures to show him their support. I though what better for one artist to another to show support than creating art in their honor. I have Scott Pond art on my walls (art prints, not just the posters, cause I’m cool like that) and have his book and books he designed the cover of on my shelves. I also have had good conversations with him about art, including things like where to get good art prints, how to display art at a show, and other nitty gritty non sensational topics that artists need to know. I wish I could be there, or do something more than send support online, but I am sure the majority of his friends feel that way. So for now I will doodle and click the heart reaction on his photos and comment on his status. Till I can hug him again. Also, Fuck Cancer.

To help Scott with medical expenses please donate to his GoFundMe.

I drew this with a fountain pen using Diamine Purple Pizzazz ink and then used a watercolor brush to paint it. This isn’t the best scan, but I am working on that. My scanner sucks, I replaced a broken one with a bad one and have a new one on the way. Scanners are the bane of my existence.
