Daily Creativity: Luna the Wonder Dog

Daily Creativity: Luna the Wonder DogLuna is a wonder dog. It’s funny how a dog you have never physically me, but know through the love se gives your friend, the happiness she gives, and various video chats, can touch your heart. My heart has been holding tight for a few months as my friends go through a hard time. This morning I cried for them, and still hold out some hope. I wanted to draw her today because even now, when she is in pain, she’s just amazing and loving. I think that animals are a gift that humans get to exist with. If we are lucky we form relationships with them. It’s how we care for them that we can show them our love, and their affection is golden.

Daily Creativity: Hot Air Balloon

Daily Creativity: Hot Air BalloonNot sure why I drew a Hot Air Balloon, but there was something about the idea of it that stuck in my head. The whimsy and fun of it. In reality I would hate to ride in a balloon, or anything like that. Still, the idea is pretty, both on the paper and in my head.

Daily Creativity: Love Your Body

This Love Your Body piece was inspired by Mark Velasquez’s photo that I spotted on tumblr a while back. I was so struck by the image, the posing and the draping of the fabric for some reason reminded me of religious art, it was very goddess like to me. So when I sketched her I kept that in mind and tried to bring that to my drawing. I like to keep images from tumblr to work on later. My flow is when I see something that strikes me I click reblog>save as draft. My drafts folder is full of beautiful figures just waiting to be turned into art.

Daily Creativity: Aikido Mice

Daily Creativity: Aikido MiceAikido Mice was inspired by tonight’s activities. Along with some other members of our Dojo we dojo stormed a neighboring dojo about an hour and a half away. We were invited to attend classes to celebrate their 20 year anniversary. It was amazing, as always. Also there were 4 dojos in attendance. We just had so much fun and I’m still hyped up. Also, their juniors reminded me of mice.

Daily Creativity: We all need a protector. Rory to the rescueProtector Rory is keeping his friends safe with his stance and this big umbrella. This didn’t work out as I had planned. I was working with a new supply of paper that was given to me, I didn’t expect too much from it, but since I wasn’t planning to layer too much I thought I would be safe. Well one layer in and the paper started to tear. It is actually worse in person, I touched up the worst tears after scanning it in. The paper isn’t even good for writing, since it is so textured. So I flipped it over and think I can use the back as practice sheets for lettering. Sadly, this supply is a bust. Let that be a lesson to me, don’t use untrusted brands.
