Daily Creativity: #OpSushi

SushismI just spent over two hours drawing sushi, and my fingers are cramped from all the grains of rice.  Today I met up with a friend for Sushi, there is a place here that’s pretty good and it was nice going out and talk. Drawing this grain of rice by grain of rice gave me a good amount of time to reflect, and to calm down. My day has been a bit crazy, well my week has been crazy. I had wanted to bake to calm, but this worked, this helped a lot.

Daily Creativity: 2015 is the year of the sheep!

Rory2015YearoftheSheepsmRory is pretty happy to hear that tomorrow marks the begin of the year of the sheep. He thinks it means more mutton will be on the menu.

Welcome to beginning of Lent too as this is the first drawing I’ve done for it, and the soon coming Art Month. Art Month officially begins March 1. Stay tuned as I will be linking to other creations then as I’ve had some people commit to creating daily creativities of their own.

Daily Creativity: Rory’s reaction to a Poke Ball & the beginning of ART MONTH!

RoryPokeBall3/1/14: Today Marks the Beginning of ART MONTH! Art month is a tradition I started where I make sure I create something every day. It is the month of March, but often goes for longer, because it’s also for the length of Lent too, it came from me taking this on as part of lent one year. (You don’t always give things up, but do things to help you focus on God. Art helps me drown out life and reflect.)

So I thought I’d start us off this year with a drawing of Rory, I thought I’d try to draw him as a pokemon, asked Tek what I would need to do to display that, and he said a poke ball.  Well Rory will have none of that!  How dare you try to contain a dragon?  Imprisonment?  He thinks not!  So this was Rory’s reaction to being a pokemon, SMASH THE POKE BALL!

This year for Lent I started l my daily creativity project late and I made myself a deal, I didn’t have to do one every day.  Mostly because it was a rough lent for me, very busy, and lots of stress.  I didn’t need this project to become an added stress and then become something to push me further from my relationship with God and further from art itself.  If you want to know more about my personal struggles we can chat over a soda/coffee/tea sometime, but for the blog, it’s not important.  I was able to manage 26/40 images.  I have a pair of shoes that will be posted once they are fully weather proofed, that was part of my creativity, and some baking projects too.  I think I did well, and I’m happy with the results.  four of my creations have been ordered as prints, so that’s 3 more than last year, that’s another win.  I would like to look into making stickers from some of the works, like the Pi symbol and possibly an updated version of the Rocktopus, I like the RedBubble stickers and think I will make a few of these things available there.  I wish they could go larger than 3″x4″ but they will die cut it too, so that’s cool.

So what was your favorite creation this year?
