Nutty Bites 148: What We Left Behind, the DS9 Documentary and our DS9 Reflections

What We Left Behind, the DS9 Documentary and our DS9 Reflections

Nutty Bites 148 Cover Art, What We Left Behind, The DS9 Documentary Nutty, Tek, Will, and Matt got together to talk about the Star Trek: Deep Space 9 aka DS9 Documentary, What We Left Behind. We talk a little about the documentary, but really focus on what DS9 meant to us and still means to us today. We wanted to make sure that we didn’t spoil the fun of watching the documentary when it comes out on BluRay in August of this year, 2019.

Some scuttlebutt we talked about in Terry Farrell’s departure.

Nutty Bites 139: They Shall Not Grow Old

Nutty Bites 139: They Shall Not Grow Old

Nutty Bites 139: They Shall Not Grow OldThey Shall Not Grow Old is a documentary by Peter Jackson about the first world war. Using hundreds of hours of footage from the Imperial Archives they improved the film, restore it, adjusted the frame rate, added realistic color, and added sound of both folly and voices. All added speech was done with the help of forensic lip readers so they could be sure that what was said was accurate.

This is only available in theaters for two days, December 17 when we saw it, and December 27, so get your tickets now and go! Add this movie to your oscar pool, it is sure to win some technical and the best documentary award.

Nutty Bites – The Real Miyagi & Pizza – Dog Days of Podcasting

Nutty Bites Dog Days of Podcasting Dinner & a movie The Real Miyagi & PizzaThe Real Miyagi & Pizza – Spoiler Free!

The Real Miyagi is a documentary on Netflix about Sensei Fumio Demura, the man who influenced the role Pat Morita is best known in The Karate Kid. Unlike many other documentaries about martial arts teachers this one is fascinating, endearing, and entertaining. You will fall in love with Sensei Demura. I pair this with his Favorite food, Pizza, but my kind of Pizza. A classic NY style slice.

I also talk a little but about the idea of being an introvert and an extrovert. I think there is more than those choices and I think a lot of people who think they are introverts are actually something else. I’m not an introvert, I’m very shy, with some social anxieties from time to time. I love social interaction, I just fear making it happen.

Nutty Bites is participating in the Dog Days of Podcasting Project, 30 days of podcasts. This year I’ll be reviewing Movies & TV and pairing them with a meal. This is a bonus episode for the month but you can sponsor Nutty Bites and help me produce more content by pledging my patreon page.
