Daily Creativity: Love Your Body Charcoal SketchLove Your Body, no matter what it looks like. It has been there to help you, not hinder you. It may not match what society tells you it should look like, but society is often wrong. It looks just as it should. I sketched this in charcoal and really love the quick impressions I was able to put down. I think this pose shows how much love there is for the subject’s own skin. It’s something I think we should all aspire too. Rather than contorting to an impossible ideal we should love what we have. All bodies are good bodies.

Daily Creativity: Rory meets Duck from KurzgesagtI love the Kurzgesagt videos and how they explain concepts in an entertaining way. I also really love their art style and especially Duck. If you back them on patreon I think for $40 you get a custom duck made for you and added to the videos, which is pretty cool. I thought it would be fun to create Rory in that art style. I really wanted to promote them and pay homage to them. So here is some fan art. I’m thinking that Rory also loves them.

Daily Creativity: Rory as Captain Canuck, Rawr Canuck?Captain Canuck is a lesser known superhero, but a fun one. Since I am a resident of Canada I thought it only fitting that I finally paint Rory as the good ‘ol Captain. Who is a total rip of Captain America but totally not, because of course there are differences, but totally a rip. It’s all good, America rips off the rest of the world right? Not many superheroes use tanfas as their main weapon either.

I struggled with coming up with a Rory’fied name for this one. Captain Rawr was for that other captain. So Rawr Canuck? Dragon Canuck? I don’t know. I do know he will win a poutine eating contest, can swallow a bakers dozen of butter tarts in a single swallow, and is friends with all of the cats on Parliament Hill. (Super Canadian humor for the win).

The Snorlax is one of my favorite pokemon. Today I painted Rory and his friend snoozing. I thought of adding a Totoro to the snuggle pile but I thought that would disrupt the composition. I think I like this pokemon most because it’s big and sleeps a lot. He looks like he would be a good snuggler too. I never like the story part of the game where you have to wake him up with a flute, just let him nap, don’t wake him. Then again pokemon at it’s core is kinda a cruel notion when you think about it from the animal’s point of view. Trapped in tiny balls and forced to fight for humans? No thanks. My snoozing friend here is great because he doesn’t conform to that standard, he finds a bridge and takes a nap.
