My good friend Jason of the Talk Nerdy 2 Me podcast, had a big bump in the road of life recently, so the Flash Mob (the fans/community of folks that listen to the Flash Pulp Podcast) got together to try and cheer him up. This is my contribution, a pop art icon of him, I made it using an image I took of him, and with the suggestion of Tek I added the logo of his podcast to his t-shirt. I sent him a Giclee Print of it before posting it here, so his surprise was first seen in the mail :)

Daily Creativity: Pop Tek
I haven’t done a pop art piece in a while and to get the rust off my style I decided to do a piece featuring one of my favorite people, Tek! Tek is my husband, also known as The Clockwork Doctor, and he has wanted a pop art piece for longer than he should have waited.
I of course had to put a bang behind him, if you know Tek, you know why. I like how this one came out, and considering the subject matter it’s no surprise why.
Daily Creativity & Thankful Thursday: Colorado Joe
This thursday I am thankful for Colorado Joe (aka @jmctee on twitter) not only is he a great guy who keeps the conversation going but he is also a contributor to the FlashCasts for FlashPulp.com
He is the first (I think) to earn his own theme song, which is awesome and I want a full song version, on flash pulp. He is a major Flash Mob member and a supporter of many projects. (and he is a bitstripper)
I have enjoyed his support in my Daily Creativity project, he always looks to see what I have made and comments at times (I know he views them all because he favorites my tweets I’m sure so he can look at it later) and it warms my heart to know that someone cares about my work so much.
A few weeks ago I created an Amazon Wish list for art supplies with the idea that if people wanted to support me with more than RTs they could help resupply me. Joe is the first to do so, and my first ever official patron! (outside of family members and my husband buying me supplies over the years, always thanks to them) but now I have an official patron and that gives Joe bragging rights. More than that though, with his contribution I feel validated, I feel like I am doing something worth while. I feel more fulfilled, and I find it hard not to gush “You like me, you really like me,” when I think about it.
So thank you Joe, and Joe, I’m thankful for you.
As for the Art, this is a Signature Nutty Pop Art, the first that I wasn’t asked to do and chose to do simply to surprise him. I hope you like it Joe.
Daily Creativity: Thankful Thursday – Lael
Today is Thankful Thursday, and it’s Art Month so I give you Lael, done in Pop Art. I really like how her eyes came out.
Lael is one of the people that I met through my roleplaying group online (star trek) and one of the first online friends of mine to become a real life friend. She and I often refer to one another as Sis (as if I don’t have enough sisters) because we are twins… from different mothers. Our interests tend to be the same and are often going through similar things in our lives at the same time. We joke that one of us is the good twin and the other is the evil twin, of course we never agree on who is the evil twin.
Lael has an Amazing voice and I have few songs of hers in my MP3 collection, but not nearly as many as I’d like (hint hint, record more). She has provided back up vocals for a couple of different projects. She’s an amazing writer who ran a writing challenge group I was a part of years ago. She loves Buffy and Star Trek (especially sexy nosed Bajorans) and Dr Who and many other geek things. I have many memories of yaking on the phone with her for hours. Having Lael at my wedding was very important to me and I was so grateful. In the two trips she’s made to NY she was able to hang with my family and belong. Without Lael I wouldn’t have had support through some pretty trying times in my life, I’m thankful to always have someone in my life that loves me how she loves me. I will always love her and keep her close in my heart.
Super Mainframe! The result of my Dragon*Cant Pop Art Tutorial
“Half man, half cartoon, all geek.”
For my panel at Dragon*Cant I showed how I make the pop art that I’m becoming known for. What better subject then Mainframe? (It worked out well that he was next in line) Because he’s wearing his GeekOut With Mainframe logo Tee Shirt I decided to go full on and throw a cape on him as well.
You can watch the recording below.
