Nutty Bites 107: Strong Female Characters

Nutty Bites 107: Strong Female CharactersNutty Bites 107: Strong Female Characters

It seems like Strong Female Characters are on the rise again. Nuchtchas and Laura Nicole are joined by Tek and Jason to talk about it. First of all, why are we seeing a resurgence of the strong woman? Which characters are the most relevant to our experiences? Thanks to the past popularity of strong female representation, society has changed, as a result those characters of the past don’t hold up to today’s standards. We also talk tropes too, especially what we like seeing in female characters, and what don’t we like seeing in female characters? Who are some of your favorite female characters?

Nutty Bites 102: Con Survival GuideNutty Bites 102: Con Survival Guide

Convention season is upon us so we thought we’d give you an updated Con Survival Guide. This year we talk about not just attending a con but being a guest at a con, dealing with cosplayers, cosplaying, and being press at a con. The golden rule is, don’t be a creep.

Each con is different but with these tips you can make sure your experience is happy, healthy, and doesn’t break your bank.

Nutty Bites 99: Intro to Ghibli – Porco Rosso

Nutty Bites 99: Intro to Ghibli - Porco RossoNutty Bites 99: Intro to Ghibli – Porco Rosso

Porco Rosso is set during the rise of fascism where a human pilot is cursed to be a pig. Porco is a lovable character that you can’t help but love. We meet Fio who is the girl everyone falls for because she is amazing and talented. Listen to Nuchtchas, Tek, Jen, & Jason talk about their experiences with this film. We went pretty long on this one, so it may take a while to get through. enjoy!

Intro to Ghibli, a new regular segment of Nutty Bites and the Talk Nerdy 2 Me Podcasts. Jen & Jason guide newbies Nuchtchas & Tek through the movies of Studio Ghibli. We are starting with the Hayao Miyazaki films in order(ish), just bumping My Neighbor Totoro to the first.  Once we finish those we will hit up the Isao Takahata films, then the Ghibli films without either director, then two non Ghibli Miyazaki films, and we also have some bonus shorts to sprinkle throughout.

Jen and Jason of the Talk Nerdy 2 Me Podcast join Nuchtchas and Tek to discuss all of these topics and to go wildly off topic, like you do. So listen and enjoy as we totally geek out about food and cooking.

Nutty Bites 85: Intro to Ghibli – My Neighbor Totoro

Nutty Bites 85: Intro to Ghibli - My Neighbor TotoroNutty Bites 85: Intro to Ghibli – My Neighbor Totoro

Intro to Ghibli, a new regular segment of Nutty Bites and the Talk Nerdy 2 Me Podcasts. Jen & Jason guide newbies Nuchtchas & Tek through the movies of Studio Ghibli. Starting with My Neighbor Totoro, we bumble our way through figuring out how this form of IntroCast works.

I’m also really pleased with the show art, I drew this of the four of us with Totoro. I will be using this art for all of the Intro to Ghibli episodes because the imagry from this movie has become so iconic of studio Ghibli. You can look forward to a future post about this Daily Creativity piece on it’s own.
