Food and Recipes

Nutty Bites 160: Food and RecipesNutty and Tek gab about food as they ask you to send them Recipes. For the 12 Days of Podcasting they are planning on running a test kitchen for recipes from listeners. So share your food with them as a wonderful gift. Nutty Bites 137: Lasagna! The Secret Ingredient is Love

Nutty Bites 137: Lasagna! The Secret Ingredient is LoveNutty Bites 137: Lasagna! The Secret Ingredient is Love

Lasagna is just noodle cake, but it is so comforting and delicious. How it’s made can make or break an experience. Most of the time it’s good, sometimes it is amazing, and a few times it is horrible. Listen to Nutty, Tek, Jason, & Jen (of the Talk Nerdy 2 Me Podcast) talk about how to make a good noodle cake, and why it’s so important to us and our culture.

This starts the first in a new series for Nutty Bites based on food. Long time listeners and followers know that food is very important to our hosts. For a while they have wanted to podcast more about food, but how does one fit that into a geek centric podcast? Simple, geek out about food and show how nerdy it can be.

If you are looking for other food related podcasts may I recommend the Eat This Podcast and Fashionably Ate.

Daily Creativity: CHOCOLATE!!!!!

Daily Creativity: CHOCOLATE!!!!!

Daily Creativity: Chocolate CupcakesMmmm chocolate…. This will count as yesterday’s daily creativity, I made it on Friday but I couldn’t share it until I shared it with the birthday boy. I made these for my friend Chooch’s birthday, and when I drove to Niagara Falls on Saturday, I left it home. Oops, so I brought it when I met up with him on Sunday. I asked his wife Viv what his favorite cakes were, and she said Chocolate, nothing else. No nuts, no other flavors, just pure unadulterated chocolatey goodness. So that was my mission. I first made a nice fudgey cupcake, I do this by making devil’s food cake and using pumpkin to really get that fudgey texture and taste. Then I made a ganache using ghirardelli’s dark and semisweet, mixing them to come up with a great flavor that isn’t too sweet or too rich. Once that cooled I whipped it so I could pipe it out as roses, my favorite way to frost cupcakes. The roses always look really pretty and they give maximum frosting coverage without a risk of toppling over. Plus the frosting is distributed evenly. Yes, I think about this way too much. The only thing I may have added if I had the time/supplies is  a bit of gold leaf for color. Still I say these tasted even better than they looked.
