Daily Creativity: Crane, Wishing for recovery in Japan

Japan Crane

You’ve heard the Japanese folktale that if you fold 1000 origami cranes you will be granted a wish, right?

I have been thinking of Japan since the earthquake, I wanted to draw something for Japan, but didn’t know what. Last night as I lay awake in bed, being kept awake with a flurry of ideas, I thought about the cranes. I could have folded one, but for me drawing it means more. It means more because of the process I go through when I draw. I get into it, my thoughts go into the drawing, the moment in time is mine.

As the viewer, a drawn crane or a folded crane has the same meaning to you. You don’t experience the process, you don’t experience my thought process or emotions, you just experience what you are seeing. So I hope this works for you too.

If you have a moment, and if you have the funds, please, give a few bucks to the red cross, for this tragedy and for the next one.
