Nutty Bites 89: Mental Health in Fiction BLOOPERS!

Nutty Bites BloopersNutty Bites 89: Mental Health in Fiction Bloopers

Bloopers are fun right? When recording the episode for Mental Health in Fiction we had the recorder on for a bit before and after (and some in the middle that was cut) of the main episode. I thought I’d share a bit of that with you listeners for fun, and because as soon as we stopped the show we remembered so many things we forgot to talk about. I also update you on my computer issues and Patreon stuff.

I also thanks all the patrons who made this episode possible. If you’d like to contribute go to my Patreon Page and donate to the show and next month I’ll be thanking you. Thanks!

Mental Health representation is important because a good portion of the community deals with mental health in one way or the other. Either directly experiencing it or supporting those dealing with it. Claire Laffar, Andy Luke, Tek, and Nuchtchas talk about mental health representation, what’s good out there, what’s not, what we’d like to see, and who is being a good role model.

We mentioned a few things to check out and I can’t list them all but do check out the Mental Illness Happy Hour Podcast, Keep the Change the film, and the White Donkey graphic novel.

Nutty Bites 85: Intro to Ghibli – My Neighbor Totoro

Nutty Bites 85: Intro to Ghibli - My Neighbor TotoroNutty Bites 85: Intro to Ghibli – My Neighbor Totoro

Intro to Ghibli, a new regular segment of Nutty Bites and the Talk Nerdy 2 Me Podcasts. Jen & Jason guide newbies Nuchtchas & Tek through the movies of Studio Ghibli. Starting with My Neighbor Totoro, we bumble our way through figuring out how this form of IntroCast works.

I’m also really pleased with the show art, I drew this of the four of us with Totoro. I will be using this art for all of the Intro to Ghibli episodes because the imagry from this movie has become so iconic of studio Ghibli. You can look forward to a future post about this Daily Creativity piece on it’s own.

We are starting with the Hayao Miyazaki films in order(ish), just bumping My Neighbor Totoro to the first.  Once we finish those we will hit up the Isao Takahata films, then the Ghibli films without either director, then two non Ghibli Miyazaki films, and we also have some bonus shorts to sprinkle throughout.

I read the names at the beginning of this episode, I am still getting a feel for how this patreon thing is working. Let me know if you like it at the beginning of the show, or the end? Thanks!

Nutty Bites 82: TV Show Revivals

Nutty Bites 82: TV Show Revivals

Nutty Bites 82: TV Show RevivalsNuchtchas, Tek, & Robin talk about TV Show Revivals. They talk about shows that have been brought back, shows coming back, and shows we wish would come back. What makes a good revival and what makes a painful revival. Some special features include comparing Fuller House to Girl Meets world, and talking about the best TV Show Revivals like Red Dwarf, Veronica Mars, and Doctor Who. We also discover that Nutty really needs to watch Twin Peaks. Listen and tell us your thoughts, what shows do you want to see come back and what shows just need to stay gone for good?
