Nutty Bites 108: Intro to Ghibli – Princess Mononoke
Princess Mononoke is a great art piece but our panelists debate about whether or not it is a good movie. This was recorded at Balticon 51, the panelists are Nuchtchas, Tek, Jen, Jason, Laura Nicole, and Grig Larson. Sorry if we crushed the heart of the fans, but this panel was divided between loving this movie and not loving it.
Intro to Ghibli, a new regular segment of Nutty Bites and the Talk Nerdy 2 Me Podcasts. Jen & Jason guide newbies Nuchtchas & Tek through the movies of Studio Ghibli. We are starting with the Hayao Miyazaki films in order(ish), just bumping My Neighbor Totoro to the first. Once we finish those we will hit up the Isao Takahata films, then the Ghibli films without either director, then two non Ghibli Miyazaki films, and we also have some bonus shorts to sprinkle throughout.

Sherlock the tv series produced by the BBC is one of my favorite adaptations. I feel like this is how Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would present this fiction today. Sure, it less and less awesome as each series is released, but still, it’s pretty amazing. I use this show as an excuse to geek out about tea and to lament how I brewed my last pot of Molly’s Christmas Tea by VG Ford.
Nutty Bites: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2017
Guardians 2 was such a fun movie it was the perfect follow up to the first film that filled our hearts. The theme of this movie was family, not who shares your blood, but who you grew up with, who you choose as your family. As a person with adopted siblings this movie struck home for me. It got it right that family is who you grew up with, good or bad. I paired this with the birthday cakewreck (carrot) Tek got me for my party.

Happy Nutty Day! I turned 40 today and that’s great. I don’t know why people keep trying to reassure me that I’m not old, did I say I was old? No, I said I was awesome! I didn’t cover a movie tonight because I talked a lot about my birthday and the festivities around it. Enjoy your own celebration of this glorious day, or when you listen, because after all, this celebration lasts at least a week.
