Cartoons are often thought of for kids, but the genre has evolved to create a new genre, cartoons for adults. Nutty, Tek, Jason, and SonorousVox talk about the evolution and some shows you may not have heard of that are worth the binge.

Tek, Nutty, and Jason talk about holiday traditions they have, and what they mean to them. New traditions, and traditions of old , things we like and make different holidays feel special. Of course when discussing culture, traditions, and families, we talk a lot about food, because what are holidays without food? Speaking of, if you want to get us a present for the holidays, send us a recipe you’d like us to make. When I say us, we will share with Jen and Jason too, so you will be filling the bellies and enriching the lives of all our hosts both in Canada and in the US.

Childhood Games are universal and yet varied. They can change based on location and generation. Just after recording this I discovered kids in my family love a game called pose tag, which sounded an awful lot like freeze tag which was what I played as a kid. So often the narrative is that kids today are only looking at screens, not out playing. My generation it was that we were addicted to the tv. I think every generation is the same, the older one says that the younger one isn’t right, not playing like kids should. Yet all children have games and play in their own way. In this episode we talk about the games we played and the different fun we had.

Intimate Friendships are often overlooked in both society and fiction. Nutty, Tek, Jason, and Melissa got together to discuss some of their favorite examples.
These friendships are essential and necessary and can sometimes be more important than romantic pairings. Close friendships of this level can be the cure for loneliness. I remember a speech given by Mister Rogers about how intimacy and learning to express one’s feelings, to feel your feelings, is important for all of our mental health. Too many good fiction can be ruined by skipping intimacy and diving straight into romance or sex.
A few disclaimers, the day after we recorded this, one of the writers behind Bert and Ernie came out as saying that he modeled their friendship off of his with his husband. A few days after that Sesame Street again made a statement saying the characters aren’t a couple but just kids and best friends. I don’t think that this statement derails from our discussion in this episode, more proves the intimacy between the two characters.
Disclaimer two, we recorded this two weeks ago but life has been so crazy I just couldn’t do the simplest editing a processing to get it posted. I’m sorry, but this still counts as a September episode and there will still be two episodes for October. It is sad it took me so long to get to it because it needed almost no editing, just needed the bumpers and promos added.
