Paul Maki, self-proclaimed Idjit, makes episode-by-episode reviews of television shows. An eclectic mix of short run shows, animated, and older television is reviewed along with biographic tidbits, cultural artifacts, and general weird stuff.
Here, Paul is falling behind on Dog Days of Advent. He’s not giving up entirely, but the number of written segments is a bit low, considering the date. So another fragment, this one firmly placed before the events of Really Big Things, in fact, it is intended to be the very first part of the story, ever, telling the story in Paul’s designated order.

Paul now attempts to share a set of fragments that have drifted about in his head like Duluth’s nonexistent snowflakes (this year). This is the first, a gift if not actually Christmasy. A dark bit of a peek at a not-very-nice person. This fragment is set in the Really Big Things Multiverse, at an indeterminate time relative to the original serial. This is fragment one of an undetermined number, ideally twelve, but who can say?

This time Paul looks at Gravity Falls Season 1 Episode 8 “Irrational Treasure.” The show reaches a cartoonish level of absurdity, which probably just means it is doing its job. It also brings in a conspiracy that threatens to pack Dipper, Mabel and their discoveries off to Washington, from where they might not come back. All that plus a look at a prolific voice actor, and peanut brittle.
