Daily Creativity: Monocle Frog (for Leap Year)

Monocle Frog
Disapproving Frog is Disapproving.

In honor of Leap Day tomorrow I sketched a gentlemanly frog for you. It helps that I adore frogs, and for some reason I wanted to put him in as formal dress as I could. I imagine he speaks with a british accent too, yes, yes.

Yes, it is a bit late for this to count for the 28th, but I count the end of the day as when I go to bed, and I haven’t gone to bed yet (it’s 5:30am here right now)

Daily Creativity: Rory the Pooh, or Silly ol Dragon

Rory the Pooh
Tonight I did another drawing of Rory, I never get tired of drawing the little dude. So what’s better than combining my love for the dragon and my childhood mentor, Winnie the Pooh?

I did this with colored pencils, and I had fun with the shading.  Now I’m tempted to draw Rory as all of the characters of the 100 acre wood.

Daily Creativity: Rock Lobster in Color

Rock Lobster in Color
You may be thinking you are experiencing deja vous, or you may not because you never saw my original sketch “Rock Lobster” but I have been meaning to create some nice line art in color of this for a long time. Tonight I finally did it. I think it came out pretty good, took me a while to trace out the line art but I like it. I think this will pop more on shirts and other merch.  Which by the by is my biggest selling item in the store.  I don’t have many sales and think I made under five dollars over the last year, but there were a few items bought with the Rock Lobster on it so YAY.  I will add this to the store so people can get something a touch more snazzy.

So yeah, I like this, the Rockband kit with a lobster on it, it was all sparked from me looking around my living room and seeing my kit with a stuffed lobster on it.  Not that exciting, wish I had more pearls of wisdom for you today.

This came out really later because I was at an awards show tonight (no, not the Oscars, the Barry Awards, YAY!)

Daily Creativity: Gutshot done as Pop Art

Gutshot as Pop Art
So today I felt like doing a pop art, this time of my friend known as Gutshot on twitter. He’s awesome and often takes these self portrait photos of himself and posts them often to flickr.

He asked me to stash this one in my files so the next time I felt like doing a pop art, I could do him. I happen to love the shot he chose for this too and think it came out really well. Slightly intimidating, but in a good way.

In case you are wondering (if you’re new to the blog) I have created this style of portrait and have done them for a few folks.  I like doing them but wait till the mood strikes me.  They are popular among my friends and while I would love to make one for everyone I am trying to avoid turning into a factory and losing the fun of making them, so I wait until I feel like it.  If you want to see more click on the tag that reads “pop art“.

Daily Creativity: Barbara Gorden, Comic Fan

Batgirl reading comics on her bed at home

Who says Batgirls don’t read comics? See, Barbara Gorden likes to relax after a night of crime fighting by catching up on the latest Detective Comics.

I’m not sure where the idea came from, but I just had the image of Barbara chilling at home knee deep in comics.
