Nutty Bites Pâté Chinois for Day 10 of the 12 Days of Podcasting 2023

Nutty Bites Pâté Chinois (Shepherd's Pie) for Day 10 of the 12 Days of Podcasting 2023

Pâté Chinois aka Shepherd’s Pie is a common dish in Canada, and slightly different from the Irish dish with the same english name. There are many theories as to where the name comes from, no one I have met who is French Canadian knows why it has this name, wiki has a few theories. I think the crux of why Shepherd’s pie is different in Canada is due to necessity. They needed something they could easily make that would be hearty, not having an abundance of sheep, beef (or in the early days) pork would be the easiest to get. The lack of other veg and using canned good also leans to a meal of necessity. There are stories of workers laying railway being to first to eat this, hence the name. There isn’t much historical evidence to back up this claim or many others, including named for a town in Maine, or a french word that sounds similar that through spoken word changed spelling. No matter the origin, it’s delicious and It always tests better when a francophone makes it.

One Idjit’s Thoughts on Dog Days of Advent- Pursuit by a Siberian Tiger

This may be the last non-festive fragment you’ll get during Dog Days of Advent, planning and life and writing and such all got the best of me. This follows on not too much longer after the previous fragment, though there is sneaking out to a pub, a doppelganger discovery, and an encounter with an evil mage that we have skipped past to get to this point. I’m hoping you’ve enjoyed these peeks at the story I’ve been meaning to tell, well for quite some time now, let’s say.

One Idjit’s Thoughts on Dog Days of Advent- The Other Side

Next up as part of Dog Days of Advent, Paul jumps forward a bit in that first story, skipping past a dying grandfather, the tedium of getting back to school, an inherited box with medallions and a spectacular transport between worlds that really hasn’t been visualized just yet. Trust me it is trope-y and yet still pretty cool, or may be cool one day.

Nutty Bites Wheelies for Day 9 of the 12 Days of Podcasting 2023

I’m naming these Wheelies, this is sort of an evolution of the Pepperoni Pinwheels (from JAX) from our first test kitchen series of 12 Days, only with different meats and fillings.

One Idjit’s Thoughts on Dog Days of Advent- Returning Down the Hill

Here, Paul is falling behind on Dog Days of Advent. He’s not giving up entirely, but the number of written segments is a bit low, considering the date. So another fragment, this one firmly placed before the events of Really Big Things, in fact, it is intended to be the very first part of the story, ever, telling the story in Paul’s designated order.
