If you are watching my flicker feed you have already seen this adorable little guy. I drew a baby version of The Clockwork Doctor and I think he’s adorable. I just got some new supplies, some new micron pens that I am in love with, they don’t smudge at all when I’m erasing so that is just awesome, and an art card size watercolor block. I’ve been looking for art card pads but just can’t seem to find them, but this seemed doable. The paper may have more texture that I wanted for ink but it will hold up well I think. I also recently picked up a Non-Photo Blue pencil which helps with ink sketches. I was very tempted to add color to this, but thought better of it. (Ink on 4×6 Art Card)

Custom NERF Creation: Charity Gun
Fredericton New Brunswick will be having its annual zombie walk downtown this labour day weekend to benefit the local food bank. I’d been planning to participate anyways, but then heard they were looking for donations for prizes to hand out to the participants. I went to our local toy store, bought a NERF Raider, dusted off my tools in the basement, and came up with this!
Please click through the gallery for further details. Thanks again to Nuchtchas for painting that incredible looking Biohazard symbol on the ammo drum!
So after an evening’s work, this weapon is now ready to be carried through the streets and hunt down the Horde! I hope its new owner is as happy with it as I am. It’s almost sad to give it away, but it’s all for a good cause. If anyone reading this can make it Fredericton for the Zombie Walk, bring your best zombie gear, shamble over and say hi. Look for the beak. I plan to be in full Plague Doctor gear, taking my pets for walk.
The Clockwork Doctor: An introduction.
Greetings Nutcases, this is the Clockwork Doctor. Nuchtchas has been kind enough to grant me some space on her blog, so this will act as my quaint little home, nestled in between the tubes of the Internet; My little oasis in the digital aether.
A brief introduction then, yes? I’ve been known on the internet as Tek for over a decade now. I’m happily married to the Mighty Nuchtchas herself, and live in New Brunswick Canada in my geeky paradise of a house. Computers, models, NERF guns, real guns, more computers, a ~lot~ of video games, and a growing collection of steampunk accessories fill the house and threaten to take over more than a few rooms. Honestly, who knew a mechanical Italian doctor would come with so much luggage?
I am a Sergeant (E6 for the Americans in the audience) Weapons Technician with the Canadian Armed Forces. I’ve served for 14 years, had 2 tours to Afghanistan, and have worked on everything from pistols to tanks to gatling guns, and almost everything in between. Deep in my heart though, I’ll always be a geek. I love machines, I love guns, and I love talking about machines and guns. This is what I hope to share with you all in these little posts: My passion.
So what am I going to talk about exactly? I don’t know yet, I haven’t thought that far ahead. My first thought is to write a bit of a beginner ballistics guide. I’ll discuss some terms, some myths, and show you all some neat math, I hope. I certainly don’t expect this to be everyone’s cup of tea. Discussing ballistics, or physics or engineering is a dry topic at the best of times, so I’ll try to keep it light, and fun.
Hopefully you’ll stick around and watch what happens, Stay tuned!
The Clockwork Doc makes the top ten list
A good friend, Robin of mine just started bloging for the DVice website, her first article was on costuming so she asked about steampunk, which of course lead her to Tek’s Clockwork Doctor costume.
If you click through the costumes you will find the description and how each person made their costume, some have more detail then others. (Tek always likes to say, he glued himself to himself five times with three different substances while making the costume)
Please take a look at the whole article, there are some really cool costumes there other then Tek’s, including some nifty Dr Who ones.
Leave a comment too, this is Robin’s first article there and I think she did a great job. Make sure you let her know you like articles about people who make their own costumes.
