Nutty Bites: Luke Cage S2 – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018

Nutty Bites: Luke Cage S2 – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018I know I have already featured Luke Cage on Dinner and a Movie, but season two was so good, it deserved a revisit. This season is so much better than the previous, it’s consistent and tight. The secondary characters really step up too and everyone gets to display their acting skills. Not to mention the awesome music and some really interesting fight scenes, Daughters of the Dragon anyone?

Nutty Bites: Solo: A Star Wars Story – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018

Nutty Bites: Solo: A Star Wars Story – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018

Nutty Bites: Solo: A Star Wars Story – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018Solo: A Star Wars Story was a fun film. It was like reuniting with old friends. I enjoyed it, loved all of the in jokes and easter eggs too. I really don’t care what fake fans say, or real fans who may not have liked the film or the other films in the continuing story, I had fun. After all, isn’t that the point of movies? I also talk a little bit about my dinner, it doesn’t really connect to the movie, but it was so good and yummy, it was worth talking about.

Nutty Bites: Crazy Ex Girlfriend – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018

Nutty Bites: Crazy Ex Girlfriend – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018Nutty Bites: Crazy Ex Girlfriend – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018

I feel like I have previously talked about Crazy Ex Girlfriend before, I can’t find the post though. This time I am specifically talking about the latest season on USA Netflix. The show went from a light fluffy musical comedy to tackling some darker and very real mental health issues. Anyone who knows me knows how that is near and dear to my heart. I really think we need to talk about mental health more and it needs to be in our entertainment, this is how we normalize the conversation.

Yes this was published a bit late.

Nutty Bites: Ocean’s 8 – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018

Nutty Bites: Ocean’s 8 – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018

Nutty Bites: Ocean's 8 – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018Ocean’s 8 was a fun followup to the Ocean’s franchise of movies. It’s not perfect, but it is a fun film and it didn’t fall into any of the pit falls of just swapping genders in a film. This was a movie more about female friendships than anything else. There wasn’t a love story, and it wasn’t to get over heartbreak or anything a guy did. That is something really rare in films focused on women, it’s refreshing and I really want more films like this.

Nutty Bites: Anne With an E – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018

Nutty Bites: Anne With an E – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018

Nutty Bites: Anne With an E – Dinner and a Movie – Dog Days of Podcasting 2018Anne With an E is a new and old Canadian staple. A remake of a classic show based on a classic book, Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. It’s a co production between Netflix and the CBC. This reimagining of the orphan from Prince Edward Island has me in love. I laugh and cry along with the characters. Also, the actor playing Matthew was a regular on Road to Avonlea, which is another Canadian classic show set in the same location. There is so much Canadian culture in this show I just adore it. Also I love the stories about her adoptive parents and how it reflects the needs and emotions of older people. Plus there is a some serious diversity in this period drama and they don’t shy away from realistic reactions. Still, the characters you love see the goodness in the world and when face to face with people who are different are much more accepting than one imagines for the setting.
