In reference to Enemy Mine, one of my first books on writing was by Barry Longyear, who wrote the story the movie is based on. Part of the book followed that story, from conception to the final published product–interesting stuff. The story was, of course, better, but the movie was still pretty good.
I think I’d like to read the story. The concepts are so much more than I would expect from the 80s
Even older: the original story came out in Isaac Asimov’s Science Fiction Magazine in 1979! I got his book on writing in 1980, which makes it one of the first I ever owned.
