Daily Creativity: Day Fourteen: St. Brigid

St BrigidIn honor of St. Patrick’s Day I drew St. Brigid? Well yeah, sorta, I mean who wants to draw some random old man… who also wants to draw some random woman? Well I chose the Saint my sister was named for, who is buried in the same place as St. Patrick and the third Irish Saint.

This reminds me of the show a classmate of mine did for our thesis, he made largish icons of the 12 Apostles and it was such a striking exhibit and stayed with me. Modern Icons, it makes me think I should start drawing more of the traditional religious themes and my own interpretation of those themes.

Daily Creativity: Day Thirteen: sing

Singing into a Microphone
Just a close up, I know the mic is all off but I didn’t use a photo or anything to draw from. I just made it up

I did a painting today and am very pleased with it, but this like the last painting I have done I can’t show it yet. Hopefully I can show both next week, which will rock.

Also, I am looking into creating prints of some of my art after getting requests. I ordered some test Gicee prints and samples so hopefully I will have more news about that soon too.

Daily Creativity: Day Eleven: pigtails

A self portrait, my face looks a bit short but following the photo I used it seems to be close. I had a hard time with my teeth, simply because they looked so monstrous sketched.

I think I choose to do a self portrait and from this photo simply because I just had to dye my hair for work. See for the last year I have had a stripe of color in the front of my hair, changing from Red to Green to Purple to Blue depending on my mood :) Well, for about 80% of the time I had a color, when having to work on site I would slap some light brown over it, or a nice honey color. This time I picked a color that after the dying process I realized is as close to my natural color as I could get (who knew I was a ‘pomegranate créme’ :) and when I looked into the mirror all I could think is that I didn’t really recognize myself. I looked different or wrong, which is funny since I lived most of my life with all brown hair, and just one year with the strip. Sadly, I miss my strip. It is a rince, so the brown will go away, but until the summer I will have to keep it up as I have a lot of on site work :(
