If you follow me on social media you know that I have been reacting to an article I read lately, “Things no one will tell fat girls… so I WILL!” and one of the take aways (everything in the article is worth while) is how many people I know personally who are ashamed of their arm flab and don’t feel brave enough to go sleeveless. I knew my own issues with my arms, I have always felt my arms were way bigger than they should be, even at my tiniest I was ashamed of my arms. It’s stupid and silly, arms have flab, without it we can’t put our arms up over our head. Some have more flab that others, but it’s skin, it’s fat, and it’s nothing to be ashamed of. In the last year I have been trying to force myself not to cover up my arms unless I’m cold. I need to get over my own insecurities. After talking to some people and seeing how that scares them, I decided I had to go sleeveless (and started using the hashtag #sleevelessandfearless). For the past six days Î have been sleeveless every day (I’m starting to run out of tanks) and my inbox was filled with thank yous and messages from people calling me brave. It’s a sad thing that so many of us living the privileged lives we lead are scared of sleeveless shirts or dresses.
So I drew this in honor of the momentum I’ve been feeling. It works well that the weather has gotten nicer, but all the more reasons to go Sleeveless and Fearless!
