Daily Creativity: Pip Boy Rory!

Daily Creativity: Pip Boy Rory!

Pip Boy Rory - Daily CreativityIf you’re a fan of the Fallout series of games then you are familiar with Pip Boy. If not, he’s basically the stand in for all of the infographics you see in the game, a game about a post apocalyptic world with a very heavy 1950’s influence of culture. While I was crafting in Fallout shelter tonight I decided that I needed to may Rory as Pip Boy. I think the hardest thing here was making the thumbs up on a figure that normally doesn’t have fingers on his paws. The other challenge is that usually I draw Rory from the side to emphasize his tum, but this composition required me to draw him head on. Working with his proportions was a bit unfamiliar, but it definitely helped me learn how his body is formed, so that’s a plus. This is a watercolor on paper.

Daily Creativity: Manatee

Manatee - Daily Creativity The Manatee is one of my favorite animals. If you haven’t seen the blog/meme The Calming Mantatee, I suggest you check it out. I wanted to do another drawing in pencils with some shading, and I thought of this because I think this mammal is soft and that works with shading. I used a method to prevent my hand, or heel of my hand, from smearing the graphite. I don’t know why it never occured to me, but simply putting a piece of scrap paper between my hand and the paper was enough to reduce the smearing to almost nil. Anything that was still smudged was easily dealt with by using a blending eraser.

Daily Creativity: Princess Tiana

Princess Tiana Daily CreativityDaily Creativity: Princess Tiana

Princess Tiana is a fantastic role model and I’m so happy with how that Disney film was crafted. I knew of Tiana before even seeing the movie, my niece was obsessed with her. There was also this amazing cosplayer who’s picture I saw around a lot, she did a great Tiana and I fell in love with her other cosplays. Her name is Brichibi, and you can find her all over the web, facebook, twitter, tumblr, and her site. I knew I was going to love her before seeing the movie. Then this past year I watched it and I did indeed fall in love with not just Tiana but so many of the characters and the story. I wish I had her as a disney princess when I was younger.

Daily Creativity: BB-8

Daily Creativity: BB-8

BB-8 Daily Creativity, the Droid we're looking for. Before seeing The Force Awakens, I expected to not care at all about the orange ball droid that seemed to be overhyped and dubbed BB-8. I was wrong, dead wrong. This was a great character, not over done, but lots of fun. Able to emote without a voice or face, fantastic. Tonight, I drew her, simply out of love for her, the droid I didn’t know I was looking for. Ink drawing on paper.

Daily Creativity: Malala Yousafzai

Daily Creativity: Malala Yousafzai

Malala Yousafzai Daily CreativityTomorrow is International Women’s Day, and in that honor I drew Malala Yousafzai. She’s a role model for all, a champion for education, and someone who can remind us that there is more in the world than what effects us directly. I’m so impressed with this young lady and impressed with all that she has done. She is eloquent and a wonderful ambassador, so she makes a great spokesperson for her cause. Her life story is enough to inspire, many other women and girls have been through similar trauma, she is far from alone. The fact that she continues to push and promote education for all makes her a superhero to me. I drew this with pencils on paper.
