Invitations May 11, 2008
So I ordered the invitations. I bought the kind that you can print yourself, so the plan is to take them to Kinkos or something like that and get professional printing on them. I chose to go this way because I really liked the invitations. They are simple and minimalistic and pretty. Basically because my dress is a light blue color and Fred will be wearing his uniform which is green for all of the decorations and other items I am going for a nice simple white. The linens are all white, I want to order a white lilac bouquet (I still need to do that) and now the invitations are white, so this will look good I think.
Now I just need to think of a good way to put in the invitation that the bride (me) will be wearing light blue so people don’t wear that color. I don’t mind if people wear white, just don’t wear my blue 🙂 If I was having a bridal party I would probably want them all in white. I mentioned the idea of the mothers wearing white to Momacita and she was dead set against that. More rules about weddings that I don’t know.
Well now comes the hard part, the invitation list. I still don’t have many addresses and it is frustrating. I will figure it out I am sure.
Still to do:
- Flowers
- printing and addressing invites
- cake (need to order and confer with mary about decoration)
- Music (need to secure speakers and find out if Greg is still going to help with the playlist)
- rings (need to place the order, like now)
- hair (need to make the appointment)
is there anything else I am missing? not sure, please suggest things to me
as for the dress… a simple printed insert or such stating it plain and simple. “bride is wearing light blue, so please refrain from wearing the same.” anyone who doesn’t understand can ask the family for clarification and will get the details so it should be fine. don’t put it directly on the invite. could possibly put it as a note on the bottom of the rsvp card.
did you pick readings? did you ask the people who are doing them to do them and get them a copy? have you done a translation of the service yet? have you booked your hotel room?

yeah still have to pick the readings and ask the people. Still have to do the translations, will have Fred do that since he got “exempt” on his language test this year (meaning he neve rhas to take it again he is so fluent) 🙂 and I still need to book the room, I plan to do that Friday when I am on LI
I can put you in touch with Godfrey, who did the music for our wedding. He won’t be free, but probably pretty cheap. Especially if you’re talking about just running a playlist to speakers from a computer. Aren’t you the one who makes all the special cakes?
yes I make the special cakes, but I am not making my own cake, too many things to do. Thanks for the tip on Godfrey I will ask you for his info soon as I find out what the deal is. He did a great job at your wedding
Just give me a call whenever you get a chance so we can discuss the cake and when we wanna start the flowers etc. 🙂 I’m very excited and happy that you and Fred are getting married so soon! Oh and yeah just put in a small insert into the invitations explaining that you’ll be wearing blue in tradition and in honor of your grandmothers. I’m sure ppl will understand (and most ny ppl will wear black).
I’ll confirm with Greg soonest, but I’m sure he’ll be honoured to do up the playlist. He’ll probably want a lot of input from you guys unless you want him to just do his typical DJ thing..LOL He’s headed on a course (probably Borden – safe course) almost as soon as we’re there, but we have NO dates or confirmation. Soon as we know anything at all I’ll contact you directly. I’ll email you our new address as of July 10th in case I didn’t already..LOL I’ll send the current one with it so you can decide ..LOL
