Oil on Canvas

This is a painting I did over a month ago (OK a few months ago, back during lent) inspired by my friends K & M. When I went to visit them it was easy to see how they felt about each other and I had a mental image of a painting I wanted to do since then, but each time I tried to get it onto paper it was a failure. Finally, I was able to get the form out and this is the result. I am actually pretty pleased with this painting and will possibly make it available for people to order prints. While it was inspired by two specific people it can symbolize almost anyone.

Been a while since you have seen anything from me. Sadly while I was at Balticon I had my sketchbook with me but did not draw a thing, how is that?

I did draw before and after and while I have a few interesting things in my book I wanted to share what I did last night, this is of my niece from a ballet recital that I could not attend :( from a picture my Sister In Law took of my Niece (daughter of my Sister) just after her Ballet recital. That wasn’t too confusing was it?

I just loved the shadows on this image and had to draw them, but also you could see the flexing of my tiny niece’s muscles and it was amazing to me, so that too was fun to draw. Just look at the tightness in her neck, your the roundness of her arms, all muscle on such a small frame.

Not sure who this is, but her eyes scare me, like she can cast a spell on you just by looking at you

I drew this last night, I have no idea where the idea came from or anything, it was one of those drawing sessions where your not so sure what you are drawing till you are done. Not because I was in a haze or some state that people who aren’t artists think artist get into (Yes I am referencing a certain book here) but don’t. More because I wasn’t really paying attention if that makes sense? My attention was split and while drawing all I really noticed was the detail I was working on at the moment, the curve of her brow, the lines in her hair, and so on, it wasn’t till I finished that I stood back and thought “ooo creepy eyes there”
